Excellence in The Arts

“The Arts have the power to change and shape young people’s lives.”

Cultural Learning Alliance, 2017

New End prides itself on continuing to support the development of The Arts. Art, Drama and Music remain an important part of the school’s curriculum.

Art is celebrated in classrooms and communal areas around the school. We also hold an annual exhibition where all children from Nursery to Year Six contribute a piece of art. In 2025 our theme was the National Gallery's "Take One Picture" project using Canaletto's "Regatta on the Grand Canal". Different techniques and styles were used to produce a wonderful exhibition.

Drama is used across the curriculum to add depth and energy to activities. Year Five classes are involved in the annual Shakespeare in Schools Project, performing an abridged version of a Shakespeare play. Plays performed include Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet, The Tempest and Twelfth Night. New End also produce a whole school musical each year with the Year Six children taking the leads and classes contributing a song and dance routine.

Children across the school benefit from a session every week with our specialist music teacher. In addition, Year Four classes also receive recorder tuition every week. New End is part of the Camden Music Scheme so children are also able to take lessons in guitar, piano, recorder, violin, voice and woodwind instruments.
