Advice for parent when dealing with tragic events

Parents sometimes ask for advice about dealing with questions following tragic events from their children at home. Here are some links for parents and carers to help talk to their child.

Talking to your children about the conflicts around the world

As a school, we are aware that children are asking questions about everything that is currently going on around them with the current conflicts across the world.  We wanted to offer support to parents who are facing the same questions that we might be asked.

First and foremost, New End is a school community that looks after each other as demonstrated over the last few years.  Kindness is one of the most wonderful features of our school and we continue to support each other regardless of our age or backgrounds.  All members of our school community deserve to be treated with respect at this very sensitive and worrying time.

Please remember that children often hear adult conversations, so think about what you are discussing with other adults around children.

The news can be frightening to listen to as adults at the moment so BBC Newsround offers news for children aged from 6 to 12 which is more appropriate for primary aged children.  Click HERE for the link.
