Remembrance Day

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them. At the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, everyone at New End fell silent to honour the people who have lost their lives in war.

Year 3 and 4 Coding Club

The Year 3 and 4 Coding Club meets every Tuesday after school in the Autumn Term.  It is led by Miss Thorby. This term the club are making games on Scratch.  They started with one sprite (an object that will move when coded) which they coded to move around a screen to avid certain objects and collect other objects.  They added a scoring system so when the sprite touched an object it get points or lose points. Now the children have a challenge to make a game where the sprite has to cross the road safely without hitting other sprites.

STEM Ambassador Visit

This year New End has been fortunate to be part of the Polar Exploration  Project.  Children from Years Three to Six have loved listening to our STEM Ambassador, Neil Pepper.  Neil's engaging and hands on presentation about his experience travelling across the Arctic by dog sled have proved fascinating listening! We have also been able to write letters to STEM  professionals working in the Polar regions and have been delighted to get several replies!
